POPULAR Herefordshire showman and entrepreneur Henry Danter found himself at the heart of a different attraction recently – a television documentary.

The Danters were just one of several families in the fairground business to be featured in a recent Channel 5 series.

Fairground Attractions focussed on Henry’s role as the head of the Danter business but also the involvement of his children Harry and Kimberley.

“It’s very good for the industry, it was what travelling fairs are all about,”

said Henry.

“I should say it’s the best publicity fairgrounds have ever had since television began.

“We play a big part and I just think it really shows the general public in the towns where we operate what we do and what’s behind what we do.”

Camera crews spent time with Henry and his son Harry at the Danter’s Treasure Island Fun Fair at Stourport.

The show also featured the role of Henry’s daughter Kimberley as manager of the family’s other showground at Symonds Yat Leisure Park.

Henry says both Harry and Kimberley were equally at ease in front of the camera.

“They have become like superstars, I think they are waiting for a call from Hollywood,” he joked.

“They’ve had a lovely response from it. I think they played the part very well – they have a passion for it and I think the amount of publicity that it has created is wonderful.”

The next episode of Fairground Attractions will be aired tonight (Thursday) at 8pm on Channel 5.
