BEING a widely accepted sign of good luck, finding a four-leafed clover is enough to put a smile on many people’s faces.
So imagine how Steve Lindon felt when his children Tiffany and Joseph spotted a six and sevenleafed variety of the plant in the garden of their Golden Valley home.
“We have found four-leaf clovers in the garden ever since we moved here around three years ago, but never a six and sevenleafed one,” said Steve, from Michaelchurch Escley.
“My daughter found the first one, then Joseph found another.”
The plant is traditionally supposed to be a good omen, although Steve believes just living in the beautiful Golden Valley is lucky.
“We are very lucky to be living here,” he said.
“The garden is about quarter of an acre.
“Tiffany has come across lots of four-leaf clovers but never this.”
He said he searched on the internet to see how common the variety is but couldn’t find anything relating to the seven-leafed plant.
Simon Lowden, manager at the Wyevale Garden Centre in Hereford, said: “We often hear about customers finding unusual plants in their gardens but we have never heard of anyone discovering a six or seven-leafed clover before.
“It’s really rare and, according to superstition, extremely lucky.”
