A HEREFORD couple have marked 60 years of marriage with a special service at Bullinghope Church, where they were married.
Edward and Mary Davies invited friends and family to their diamond ceremony which was followed by a celebration at the city’s Merton Hotel.
Edward, who is 81, and Mary, 79, became engaged shortly before he left for the Americas while in the Royal Navy in 1947.
On his arrival back in the UK in 1950, they tied the knot.
Edward, born in Little Tarrington, went on to work at the city’s Jeffrey’s Tiles base, close to the railway station, and the post office depot.
Meanwhile Mary, who was born in Withington, worked at the Co-op store in Widemarsh Street and the council offices at the Shire Hall.
The couple, now living in Whitecross, are set to celebrate the occasion with a break in Pembrokeshire.
