A Hereford student will scale the heights for a children’s charity as part of an Everest challenge.
Emma Mann, from Orchard Glade, will embark on Expedition Everest on June 12 and climb to 17,600ft to reach the mountain’s base camp in aid of Childreach International.
The University of Nottingham student needs to raise £2,000 to make the trip possible and is looking for local help.
“I decided that I needed to do my bit for the world, rather than just spend all my time being a typical student so I signed up for the challenge of a lifetime,” said Emma, aged 19.
The trip includes helping with the charity’s projects in Nepalese villages.
“So far the people of Hereford have shown their generosity during two bagpacking days at Marks and Spencer but I am only touching on the edges of money I need,” she added.
Childreach International works to improve the lives of children living in some of the world’s poorest places.
Projects tackle health and educational issues in countries such as Ghana, Tanzania and India.
