ONE of Herefordshire’s most historic buildings can now be viewed across the world thanks to a popular internet image website.
Berrington Hall, near Leominster, is one of 20 National Trust properties to be added to Google Street View.
It gives web users the chance to have a 360 degree virtual ground-level tour around the outside of the popular tourist attraction.
Pictures of the 18th century mansion and its gardens were taken last summer using the Google Trike – a pedal-powered version of the infamous cameraequipped Google cars which have been travelling the country taking pictures to be used on the website.
“Google Street View will enable even more people to take a peek and get a sense of what Berrington Hall has to offer,”
said the estate’s property manager, Tina Salter.
“It’s fantastic to think that people from around the world, who might never be able to travel to the UK to see this wonderful 18th century mansion, will be able to enjoy a virtual visit.”
Berrington, with its lake and stunning views to the Brecon Beacons, was ‘Capability’ Brown’s last garden design. Its walled garden boasts an historic collection of old local apple trees.
