PIGS - 118: A larger entry of pigs (most of which were porkers and cutters) were sold with the exception of one pen. White weaners sold at £32 and coloured (Pietrain) at £32. Store pigs from £30 to £45. Porkers £50 to £70, cutters to £81. More sows were on offer and again in keenest demand with feeding sows from £58 to £68 and better meated sows from £70 to £122. Cull boars £70 to £78.

It is beneficial to all vendors to enter your stock so that it can be advertised.

The pigs on offer at today's sale came from 6 different counties, i.e. Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Shropshire, Swansea, Powys and Gloucestershire.

Weaners White from £ - to £32, Weaners Coloured from £ - to £32, Stores White from £30 to £45, Stores Coloured from £32 to £42, Porkers White from £50 to £70, Porkers Coloured from £50 to £60, Cutters White from £ - to £80, Cutters Coloured from £ - to £81, Feeding Sows from £58 to £68, Fat Sows from £70 to £122, Boars from £70 to £78.

Store Cattle 405: Another quality entry of store cattle which sold to an improved trade. Good shaped grazing cattle sold to best interest throughout the sale. Top head price was £1225 for a Limousin cross steer, 23 months and farm assured weighing 610kg. Other stronger feeding steers from £900 to £1200. Younger more forward steers sold from £800 to £1160.

Those smarter grazing steers ranged from 220p-250p/kg highlighted with the draft of Limousin cross Blues from M/s T J and E M Price and Son, Hollow Farm who sold their 10/12

month steers from £850 to £930.

Heifers sold to £1172 for a pair of 24 month Charolais heifers with several from £850 to £1170. Among the heifers were over 40 British Blue crosses from 3 separate farms -

they sold to £1120. Customers for bulling as well as finishing with prices from £800 to £1000. Younger heifers regularly sold from £575 to £900 being 212p-235p/kg.

Bulls - 6: Just 6 feeding bulls at this sale topping at £970 for 10 month Limousin cross with an 8 month at £840. A bunch of Angus bulls sold well at £525.

Cows and calves: The best quality entry of heifers and calves this spring sold to good enquiry topping at £2220 for a British Blue cross heifer with her 2 month Blonde cross heifer calf. Others from the same consignor, Mr J W Cook sold from £1920 to £2080. Total clearance with others from £1380 to £1850. A black Hereford cross 4th calver with her spring born heifer calf sold at £1340. The Limousin stock bull, 5 years old sold for £2000.

Barren/feeding cows - 5: The entry of 5 barren cows and old bulls met a better trade selling to £1070 for a Limousin cross with good meated cows from 120p-145p/kg. 2 old bulls sold to £1200 for a Charolais and £860 for a Hereford.
