BRIGHTWELLS report a successful first sale of pedigree in lamb ewes at Builth Wells Market on January 22.
The Champion of the day was awarded to a Three Year old Ewe from T Davies and Co, Llwyncadwgan and sold for 720gns to the judge Mr Howell Powell, Llwyngwillym. The ewe was sired by a Corrin 2008 scanned for twins to the Llwynpiod ram bought at 10,650gns which was Champion of the Builth Sale in 2013.
The top price ewe of the day was a two year old ewe from DE and G Davies and Son Llwynpiod, Garth this ewe was sold for 920gns to T Davies and Co, Llwyncadwgan, scanned in lamb to the Llwyncadwgan ram that was bought for 10,000gns last autumn,
In all the 12 Beulah Ewes sold to average £452.
There was also a small entry of Blue Faced Leicester ewe lambs with the First Prize going to a smart ewe lamb form GT Davies and Son, South Hill Farm selling for 400gns to G and A Powell, Glanmihelli. This lamb was sired by D11 Tygwyn and out of an A1 Tygwyn Ewe.
Top Price Blueface was 450gns for a ewe lamb from DI and E Jones, Llanilltyd selling to G Williams, Tynewydd, Crai. This lamb was sired by G15 Llanilltyd and out of a Z1 Tymawr. The five Blue Faced Leicester Ewe Lambs sold to average £363.
In the commercial section Jake Powell, Llwyngwillym sold Beltex cross ewes at £400 and £320.
PD and DD Evans, Dolberthog sold his 120 Mule Ewes 2's, 3's and 4's scanned at 200% from £110 to £125.
