AN all-female team has been elected to head-up Herefordshire Young Farmers for the third year running.

Jessica Wright is the new chairman for the 2015/16 period with Fay Thomas the vice-chairman.

Jessica is a familiar face in YFC circles having joined in 2002 at the age of 13. She has carried out numerous officer roles over the years.

Last year she was awarded first place in the National Senior Member competition at the annual convention in Blackpool.

Competitions have played a major role in her YFC career to date and she has turned her hand to having a go at most things in the YFC programme from stockjudging to tug-of-war, floral art to cookery, and even writing and performing in a pantomime competition.

“YFC has been a massive part of my life for the last decade – I have made friends all around the county, developed my career with help from contacts, and met my fiancé through it," she said.

"I was inspired as a junior member and always wanted to become county chairman. Now I've got here I can't wait to get started, and hopefully inspire the members of the future."
