STORE cattle - 557: Another entry which included entries in the show for weaned calves. A terrific trade throughout, much better than many were anticipating and what has been recently in other centres. The steers topped at £1280/head with the top 20 prices all in excess of £1090/head. Anything with meat and shape were all contested for with a pair of Limousin steers topping at 263p/kg and many more well over 230p/kg. To include all types from the very small and plain to those of strength the steers averaged £810/head which is considered to be a remarkable trade. The heifers were a similar story - in fact almost dearer with a top price of £1240/head and 298p/kg achieved. Plenty of those smaller weaned calves 240p/kg upwards with a nice run from M/s C A and A J Goodwin, Wychmoor and Mr N Davies, Oakfield. The heifers again to include all types averaged just short of £800/head. A capacity crowd of buyers in attendance ensuring competition for all sorts.
The larger entry of 72 feeding bulls sold to £1250 for a home bred Limousin at 15 months and full of show.
