956 SPRING lambs: A better entry than expected especially considering the trade. It's extremely disappointing and it would seem as there is little to stop it falling further particularly if numbers come out. Firms are full up with deadweights and therefore don't need to come to market for lambs, the export trade is struggling due to the strong pound, skin and offal values are on the floor and to top it all according to recent news reports red meat should be off the menu. All we can do is strive to keep liaising with our buyers to maintain some level of orders and competition. Our industry is in a very precarious position and it's now time that our industry representatives stir up some positive press for a change and really earn their premiums and levy's.
277 cull ewes and rams: Cull ewes a better trade on the week with every sign of it improving further still as numbers ease and we get closer to the Christmas period. The ewes averaged £57/head which is approximately £5/head dearer than previous weeks.
