A YOUNG Farmers Club will be marking its 60th anniversary with a dinner and dance.

The celebration in honour of Presteigne Young Farmers Club takes place on September 5 at Hill Farm.

Formed in March 1955, Presteigne's fortunes have ebbed and flowed in the subsequent six decades, but they have enjoyed a good year so far in 2015, culminating in their third-placed finish in the County Rally in June.

Presteigne's chairman, Will Rogers, says they are looking for past and present members to join them for the celebrations.

“It's a notable landmark for the club and we are hoping as many former members as possible will feel they want to be there,” he said.

“But we are limited by the size of the venue, so we are urging anyone who is interested to get in touch quickly as it will be a case of 'first come, first served'.

“Priority will be given to current and former members of the club as it's only fair that those who played their part over the years should be at the heart of the celebrations.

“The dinner is for all former members and friends of the club - not just those who held the key offices over the years."

Tickets for the black tie event, which will include a three-course meal, are £25 each and are available from whitewallfarm@gmail.com
