FRUIT at the core of the Herefordshire's heritage will be celebrated at a dedicated day.
Colwall Apple Day will take place at Colwall Cricket Ground on Saturday October 12 from 1.30pm.
There will be a display of apple varieties, apple identification, dancing with the Appleyard Dancers female morris, apple based games and activities for children and apple juicing.
Refreshments and orchard produce will be on sale throughout the day to raise funds for Colwall Community Orchard.
Tim Dixon, chairman of the group, said: “Colwall has a fantastic heritage of apple varieties, in orchards and gardens around the village.
"So far we have discovered about 120 different types of apples and we are challenging people in the village to find new ones to add to the list.
"Identifying the apples is quite difficult, as there are more than 2,500 varieties known in Britain, so John Edgeley, a national expert, will be on hand to identify samples."
