LOVERS of the country way of life are in for a treat this weekend.

The Herefordshire Country Fair is at Hampton Court on Sunday and promises to bring many of the best aspects of rural life to those visiting the 15th century medieval castle at Hope-Under-Dinmore, near Leominster.

The attractions include an action packed day of top class showjumping which includes a qualifier for the Thermohomes Europe National Championship.

The winner will receive the NFU Mutual cup and £200 sponsored by the NFUM Ross-on-Wye office.

This year after careful consultation with local traffic police and Amey, a traffic management plan has been put in place that should ensure that there are no queues.

Two car parks will split the traffic approaching from the east and west respectively although it is essential that visitors follow the yellow fair signs at all times since there has been some ingenious rerouting.

There are several dog events and many visitors bring their pets either to compete or enjoy the day out.

But the organisers say it is essential no dogs are left in cars because of the potential for a hot day. Dogs are welcome around the show ring as long as they are on a lead.

There will be 150 trade stands together with 30 exhibitors in the countryside information area.

They include farmhouse ice cream sellers in the food hall, not to mention the cider and beer makers who will be part of an array of local food and drink producers on show.

There will be much for the children to see with displays from the Amphibian and Reptile Society, Herefordshire Beekeepers, an owl sanctuary, Cats Protection, otterhounds, as well as other county organisations.

Organisers are hoping for a great day to boost progress towards their charitable trust target of £100,000.
