HEREFORDSHIRE breeders made a big impression at The Royal Welsh Show.
The 50th Royal Welsh Show at Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, saw many Herefordshire breeders and farmers crossing the border to join the thousands of people attending the four day event.
Duncan and Anglea Handley from Dorstone got on a winning streak with their highland cattle.
They won junior bull and then champion bull for the highland breed with Broach of Gilden Vale, a one year old bull.
Their two year old heffer Una Dubh 6th of Gilden Vale won champion female and then overall champion of the Highlanders.
"There was a good sample of Highlanders - they were all good ones," said Duncan. "Overall we picked up 11 rossettes all together."
Mike Brown, of Baron's Cross Charolais Stud, in Aymestrey, near Leominster, also achieved success at the show.
Charbron Heredity won its class, was named junior male champion and then became reserve male champion to Barnsford Ferny.
The 15-month-old was then named reserve supreme champion and in the elite bull class became reserve champion.
And in the junior interbreed beef championship it was named reserve champion.
There was further success for heffer Charbron Honour which won its class and was named reserve junior champion.
Charbron Duchess came second in her class and then was a member of a group of five in the interbreed beef championship which were named as reserve champions.
"The show was a great success. The weather was fantastic," said Mike. "There seemed to be a lot of people coming through the cattle stores and Prince Charles being there was the highlight for the public."
