Local firm wins low carbon award

A SENIOR employee at a Ledbury firm has been named a top green business leader in a regional awards ceremony.

Russell Granville, product development manager at Amcor Flexibles in Ledbury, was personally recognised by Sustainability West Midlands in the West Midlands Low Carbon Economy Awards.

Amcor, based at the Lower Road Industrial Estate, was named the region's Low Carbon Pioneer 2010, for having made the biggest impact on the region.

Mr Granville is the founder member and chairman of the Amcor Flexibles Ledbury Environmental Action Committee, which has become involved in community projects.

He said: “The awards are a team effort and reflect the dedication of the EAC and Amcor Flexibles Ledbury site workforce who have embraced the environmental challenges. The site significantly reduced its carbon footprint in the past two years and this has been achieved by everyone showing that they can make a difference.”

Martin Dallas, marketing director at Amcor Flexibles Europe and Americas, said: “At Amcor we strive to continuously improve our operational excellence and ensure that we keep our environmental impact to a minimum. Amcor Flexibles Ledbury has demonstrated to the judges that they are not only doing excellent work, but leading the way with their pioneering and innovative solutions to carbon reduction.”
