BRITAIN’S newest archbishop has given a debut mass at a Herefordshire school celebrating a special milestone.
The Archbishop of Cardiff gave his first mass since being ordained at St Mary’s RC High School last weekend.
The Most Reverend George Stack was appointed Archbishop of Cardiff by Pope Benedict XVI in Rome in April.
The 66-year-old was installed in June at St David’s Cathedral and succeeds Peter Smith, now Archbishop of Southwark.
The archbishop this month held a celebration mass in Lugwardine to mark 150 years of catholic education in the county.
The event was attended by nuns from the Order of St Vincent De Paul in London, which helped launch the original school.
