A LEOMINSTER business has helped provide potentially life-saving equipment to the community.

The Forbes Group has provided a defibrillator, which is situated on their factory in Glendower Road.

A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest.

According to the ambulance service's advice, every additional minute of delay before treatment reduces the chance of survival by 10 per cent, so every additional defibrillator available means more people are treated earlier and survive.

The defibrillator is registered with the West Midlands Ambulance service and is available for public use and by anyone on the trading estate who needs it.

To access the equipment the public need to dial 999 and give the location number on the box and the caller will be given instructions for use.

There are three other defibrillators in Leominster registered with the West Midlands Ambulance service, located at the council offices in Corn Square, the Black Swan Public House and Morrisons.

The Forbes Group was the main contributer to the new equipment but other companies also contributed including: TM Factors, Wills Engineering, Leominster Accident Repair Centre, Investment Tooling Technology, and Barrington Print.

Forbes Group managing director Chris Graville said: “I hope it never gets used, but it is there if anyone needs it and if it helps save a life, it will be worth every penny.”
