A VILLAGE pub praised for being warm and friendly has come out on top of almost 300 establishments to be named 'Pub of the Season' by Herefordshire CAMRA.

The Autumn Pub of the Season award was given to the landlords of the Moon Inn in Mordiford – Alan and Karen Davies and their daughter Dannii – by Herefordshire CAMRA's press and publicity officer Mark Haslam.

Mr Haslam said: "The Moon Inn stands out as a pub of excellence in what it offers to the community and to visitors.

"It has a traditional half-timbered black and white exterior but said it is the very homely atmosphere inside with log fires that makes it stand out for CAMRA’s autumn award."

He praised the landlords for making the pub a warm and friendly place for all to visit and relax with good beer and good food since they took over in 2010.

They encourage traditional pub games and teams, have a well-run campsite and beer garden, and provide a home for mobile Post Office services in Mordiford.

Mark Haslam added: "Alan, Karen and Dannii deserve recognition for paying close attention to what customers want and enjoy."
