A GREAT British Paralympian visited a city primary school as part of National Sport week.

Working with Sport for Schools, Paralympic footballer Jack Rutter led a sponsored fitness circuit with all pupils at Trinity Primary School in Hereford, before giving a talk.

In 2009, Jack, aged 18, was just about to become a professional footballer with Birmingham City Football Club, when he was punched in the back of his head on a night out.

He spent two weeks in intensive care and he was left with brain damage that severely affected his balance and hearing.

He is now the captain of the England Cerebral Palsy Football Team.

Acting headteacher, Kate Mather, said: "The aim of the event was to inspire the pupils to take up sport generally but just as importantly to encourage them to discover and then pursue their passion in life.

"Money raised at the event will enable the school to purchase new sports equipment and also support GB athletes (including Paralympic athletes) in their quest for excellence.

"Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience and relished the opportunity to meet a Paralympian was completely inspiring for our children."
