A SECOND World War Spitfire was flown over Hereford to mark Armed Forces Day.

Crowds turned out to watch the fly-past which was part of a full day of events to mark the annual celebration on Saturday.

The pilot, local man Andy Preece, carried out three passes over the city centre. There were also military vehicles and stalls in High Town as well as performances throughout the day by the Band and Bugles of The Rifles and performances by the Starlight Dance Company.

Other events took place throughout the day at the Shirehall, including military support groups and refreshments provided by the Base Camp project.

The aim of Armed Forces Day is to raise public awareness of the contribution made by those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces, and to give everyone an opportunity to show their support for them.
