AN aspiring actor from Hereford has landed a role in the latest Transformers film.

Jamie O'Rourke, 36, was cast to appear in the Hollywood feature film, Transformers: The Last Knight, which is due to be released this month.

He played the role of one of Captain Lennox's soldiers during the final battle, fighting against the Decepticons, alongside the main actors, Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel and Laura Haddock.

Filming took place in Trefil quarry in Tredegar in Wales.

Jamie, who lives in Saxon Gate, said: "Transformers the Movie was my first cinema experience back in 1986 so it was a childhood dream to work on such a big project and to meet actors such as Mark Wahlberg and Josh Duhamel was amazing.

"We would start at 6am and finished about 7pm each day so it was very tiring, but everyone from the cast to the crew were always very happy and fun to be around."

Jamie spent four years in the TA at Hereford when it was reconnaissance and snipers and he left in 2003.

He said he was chosen for Transformers for his four-year military experience as they were using real guns and explosions on set. He is also trained in firearms and tactics for TV and film.

Jamie said: "Michael Bay (Armageddon, Bad Boys, 13 Hours) was on set to direct the action - often referred to as a 'Bayhem' because of the action sequences - and clearly very excited about the filming process, often jumping into the offroad camera cars or helicopters to direct the shots from the air himself.

"You imagine that so much of the filming process uses CGI but Michael Bay actually loves to blow things up and had huge explosions buried in the ground and hanging from cranes, as well as fire jets and smoke machines."

Jamie started to get involved with film-making in 2001 with Hereford's Rural Media Company and its short film The Vawn.

He is now studying acting at the LARCA acting school in Cardiff under the direction of Ross O'Hennessey (Game of Thrones).

He has appeared in a number of TV shows in small roles and in programmes due to be aired including Casualty and Kay Mellor's new drama Love, Lies and Records.
