TRIBUTES have been paid to a popular Hereford man who died suddenly over the weekend.

Alex Evans was well-known for his role within the county’s performing arts community, having been involved in numerous projects over the years. He was also heavily involved, and close friends with, the Beefy Boys.

His employer, The Courtyard, is one of those to have paid tribute to him, in a touching post on Facebook.

The arts centre, wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you all of some very sad news. Tragically, our friend and colleague Alex Evans passed away over this weekend. This has come as an immense shock to all those who knew Alex, and everyone here at The Courtyard is feeling very numb at this time.

"Alex had been a part of The Courtyard family for a long time, from his time in Youth Theatre, being involved with numerous productions, right through to working on the Café Bar, Box Office and Front of House.

“There is a book of condolence on a table in our foyer for anyone who would like to sign it and share their stories of our brilliant friend and colleague.

“We would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to Alex’s family, our friends The Beefy Boys and those closest to him at this very sad time.”

Dozens of others have taken to Facebook to pay tribute to him, describing him as ‘kind, witty and an utter gentleman’.
