A HEREFORD schoolboy enjoyed a taste of fame when he featured on a breakfast show on national radio.

Eight-year-old Hamish Gamble, a pupil and chorister at Hereford Cathedral Junior School, rang in to the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Radio 2 on Tuesday to announce he would be singing in Evensong for the first time at Hereford Cathedral that evening.

The call formed part of the popular show’s ‘Kids Get a Fanfare' item, in which children from the age of six to 11 can call in to tell the show’s host that they’re doing something for the first time.

After Hamish announced that he would be singing soprano, Chris Evans complimented the year-four pupil on his 'lovely enunciation'.

Hamish got a second taste of radio fame on Wednesday morning when he rang in to Radio 2 to report back on how his first Evensong went. He also sang an excerpt from Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus live on air.
