THE audience were up and dancing in their seats at the end of the glorious Sister Act at Malvern Theatres.

It had to be one of the most feel-good musicals I have seen with amazing vocals and upbeat dance routines.

The show follows the Whoopi Goldberg 1992 movie of the same name as Deloris Van Cartier is forced to hide in a convent after witnessing a murder by her mafia boss boyfriend.

And a fresh perspective has been added to the musical by Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood who has directed and choreographed the show.

He cast actors who are also talented musicians and play their instruments throughout on stage, which makes for an even better live experience.

There is something quite special about seeing actors act and sing and dance AND play a violin at the same time.

The music is loud and proud with a Seventies disco feel- Take Me To Heaven and Fabulous Baby! cannot help but make you smile.

Joanna Francis is spellbinding as Deloris- she has an incredible voice and is so full of energy and charisma. She kept in character right to the end as she danced off stage.

The show is slightly longer than usual but I didn’t notice as it is fast-paced.

The best scenes have to be when all of the nuns are onstage and dancing and singing in their habits.

At the end of the show, people could not stay in their seats and were clapping and dancing along to the catchy music. This is not one to miss.

Sister Act is in Malvern until December 10 and is mostly sold out although there are tickets left for the Wednesday matinee at 2.30pm. To find out more go to http://www.malvern-theatres.co.uk/events/event/sister-act/
