A 48-YEAR-old man took his own life, an inquest heard.

Peter Stevens had been living with his sister, Jacqueline, and her partner at their home in Ridgeway Avenue, Hereford since May, following a separation with his partner.

Herefordshire Coroner's Court heard Mr Stevens had been struggling with low moods since his dad died in March, and he had lost his mum nine years previously.

Ms Stevens said her brother returned to her home at 12.50pm on August 27 and started drinking.

She found him slumped against a window in his bedroom at around 2.45pm. CPR was carried out but he was pronounced dead at 3.41pm at Hereford County Hospital.

He had 182mg of alcohol per 100ml litre of blood, which the coroner said was a significant level.

Coroner Mark Bricknell recorded that he took his own life as a result of a ligature around the neck.
