A HEREFORD hospice has tackled a tricky subject during three events in the past week.

As part of Dying Matters Awareness Week, St Michael's Hospice hosted 'If only I had five more minutes …' at All Saints Church and Cafe in Hereford city centre where people were invited to write what they would like to say to a person who has died, before hanging the message on a tree, donated by Radway Bridge Garden Centre near Withington.

Others have done the same at the Courtyard arts venue on Edgar Street.

The Courtyard has also given a new home to Hereford’s Death Café. The first one in a monthly programme took place there last Wednesday when, over tea and cake, people enjoyed thought-provoking and life enhancing conversation.

Meanwhile, a national conference in Leominster Priory called Good Grief - the Loneliness of Bereavement explored how communities can best support those who are bereaved, isolated and lonely.

The conference, which included workshops, was attended by about 150 people. It was chaired by the Dean of Hereford, Michael Tavinor.
