A RUGBY club took on a different kind of challenge to raise more than £2,000 towards vital medical equipment and supplies.

Spencer Goodall organised the fundraising event which saw members of Hereford Rugby Club cycle from Cotswold BMW in Gloucester to Cotswold Hereford – one of the club's sponsors.

The plan had originally been to raise money for a defibrillator but the life-saving device was donated to the club by West Midlands Ambulance Service, which will also train members on how to use it.

However, the money raised will now be used to purchase a stretcher and other vital medical equipment and supplies.

The club thanked Jo Robinson, Riverbank Bars, Heggies Butchers, the cyclists and the sponsors which helped members raise more than £2,000.
