A 77-YEAR-old cyclist from Hay-on-Wye proved age is just a number when he was the oldest person to complete the Welsh Velothon.
John Harrison, a member of the Hereford Wheelers cycling club, completed the 140km challenge in just over five and a half hours at an average time of 25.4 km per hour.
The route took him through gruelling climbs of both the Tumble and Caerphilly Mountain.
Having trained hard for the event, Mr Harrison always felt confident of finishing and he thanked friends and family for raising more than £1,300 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research in memory of his sister Gloria Madigan, of Hay on Wye.
