FOOD proved to be a perfect pairing with flying as hundreds of visitors flocked to Shobdon on the weekend.

Close to 6,000 people made the trip to the village's Food and Flying Festival – the amalgamation of Herefordshire Aero Club's annual aviation showpiece and the long-running Shobdon Food Festival.

Visitors enjoyed a range of food and drink on offer from local producers and exhibitors with aerial displays, fly-pasts, Jump4Heroes parachute display team and historic aircraft adding to the line-up.

Organiser, Matt Teale, said many producers and exhibitors sold out of their stock as visitors enjoyed soaking up the sunshine at the popular event.

"It went spectacularly well from our point of view. The feedback from producers and exhibitors has been 100 per cent positive," he said.

"We made a lot of changes and put a viewing area where people could sit and enjoy a drink and the flights and it really worked – we were really pleased with it.

"It's not just about making money for the charities we support, it's about supporting the local infrastructure."

Organisers are keen to ensure the festival stays a local event for the local community and thanked those who made it such a success.
