FOR almost 100 years, children from the same family have attended the primary school in Fownhope.

Sybil Davies was the first pupil to go to St Mary's C of E in 1914, the first daughter of Arthur and Susan Davies.

Then attendance continues for descendants of the couple until the present day, with just a three year gap between 1971 and 1974, when Martin Hoyes left and great-grandson, Simon Lilwall started.

Harry Hanks, a great-great grandson, has now started at the school.

Bob Baker, part of the family who went to the school from 1950, has arranged a reunion of people who lived in Fownhope or went to school in the 50s and 60s.

He said: "I left Fownhope when I was 18 through work. The rest of my life service has kept me away from Fownhope.

"I am now retired and in ill heath and I moved back to Hereford. It struck me that it would be nice, I am 70 this year, to see all the friends I could find.

"Our whole family- we still believe we are not just Herefordians but Fownhopians."

The reunion is on July 26 at the Pavilion in Capler Lane from 2.30 to 6pm. If you would like to attend call 01432 356473 or email robertbaker36@live.co.uk
