AN MP officially opened a revitalised play area in a south Herefordshire village.
Jesse Norman, Hereford and South Herefordshire MP, cut the ribbon at the revamped Clehonger Playing Field, off Birch Hill Road.
The £50,000 project, led by Clehonger Parish Council, has installed new play equipment, including a multi-activity centre and a ‘zip-wire’ aerial slide.
Funding came from The Veolia Environmental Trust who awarded £40,000 through the Landfill Communities Fund, with Clehonger Parish Council providing £6,000 and Clehonger Community Group £1,000.
The community also raised £3,000 through events including race nights, coffee mornings and table sales.
The next phase of work will include the installation of more equipment so that all ages are catered for.
