A ROSS-on-Wye woman who sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash on the M5 on Christmas Eve is making a good recovery.

The 38-year-old woman was injured after her van overturned on the M5 near Gloucester and was hit by several other vehicles.

Gloucestershire Road Police released the following statement from her family: "Our daughter and sister, who was seriously injured in a crash on the M5 on Christmas Eve, is making a remarkably good recovery.

"After four weeks in Southmead Hospital and eight weeks in BIRU (Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit) she left the unit on March 18.

"The driver and her family would like to express their sincere thanks to the police and the other emergency services who attended the accident.

"The family's thoughts are with those people delayed by the incident and they would like to thank them for their patience and understanding."

Gloucestershire Police also thanked those who remained at the scene and the many who got in touch afterwards.

After a thorough investigation, no police action was taken.
