A PLANNING application to build 28 homes in Leintwardine has been refused over concerns it would affect the historic element of the village.

The plan put forward by Philip Rogers-Coltman was to knock down a bungalow called Seedley Lodge in the High Street and build 28 dwellings.

Herefordshire Council refused the application as it said the proposed development would have an unacceptable detrimental impact on the historic character of the settlement; on the setting of the nearby Scheduled Ancient Monument, Bravinium Roman Station and on the character of the surrounding landscape.

It also said there was insufficient information in respect of transportation matters and a children’s play area. There was also no completed Section 106 Agreement.

The planning application comes after a pitch for 45 homes off Rosemary Lane in the village was refused in January.
