SOME of Leominster's most well-known spots have been captured on camera as part of a global photography project.

Freelance photographer, Jim Wood, took part in the global 24 Hour Project – aimed at 'documenting world’s humanity in one single day'.

He was one of several thousand photographers who took a photo of his town each hour for 24 hours and uploaded them to Instagram.

Mr Wood, 36, said of the project: "It's a collection of photographs from around the world and those taking part spent 24 hours uploading one photo per hour for 24 hours.

"I thought it would be interesting to get involved this year. I took pictures around Leominster and tried to provide a general study of the town. It was a bit more difficult during the early hours because it was a ghost town."

Mr Wood, originally from Devon, has worked as a freelance photographer for around three years now, although his passion for photography really started from a young age and stemmed from interest in his dad's photographic career.

He's also busy compiling a 'then and now' book about Leominster.

"It's based around photographs taken by Alfred Watkins [whose late 19th century and early 20th century photographs provided a glimpse into Herefordshire's past]. I'm going around and standing where he stood and taking the new, modern shot to compare the two," he said.

"It's coming along quite nicely and I'm self-publishing it so it will probably be around May or June time."

Organisers of the 24 Hour Project will select some of the 30,000 plus photographs taken to go on an international exhibition tour.
