A TEACHER who walked out on one Herefordshire school and then faked references from former colleagues there in a bid to secure another job has been banned from classrooms for her dishonesty.

The ban which will last at least four years was imposed on Rebecca Stock, 28, following disciplinary panel findings that she was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.

The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) professional conduct panel said that Stock joined Lucton School, near Leominster, in September 2012 as a residential house parent and PE Teacher.

However, she asked for classroom cover to attenda medical appointment in February 2013, but never returned, and had no further communication with the school.

The NCTL say that the school then found out that in February 2013, Stock created a fictitious domain name ‘theluctonschool.org.uk’ and, in January 2014, submitted an application to another school.

That application included false information and two fictitious references purporting to be from former colleagues at Lucton School, and she had used a school stamp which she bought online.

She also used fake mobile telephone numbers and email addresses using the ‘@theluctonschool.org.uk’ suffix for contacting her supposed referees.

What she had done came to light when the other school tried to contact one of the supposed referees ahead of an interview.

In March, Stock received a police caution for fraud by false representation.

Recommending that she should be banned from teaching, the NCTL findings say Stock had fallen “significantly short of the standards expected of the profession.”
