A TEENAGE drink-driver who drove to get a takeaway after a night out panicked when police pulled her over in Hereford.

Storm Fowler, 19, of Old Radnor, near Kington, had been on a night out in Hereford with friends, when she decided to drive to McDonald's in Belmont to buy food.

Lesley Ashton, prosecuting said that at 3.20am on January 11 police saw Fowler driving without any lights on.

They pulled her over on Newmarket Street but, as officers approached her car, she pulled away.

Fowler drove for a short distance before pulling over on Greyfriars bridge, where two police cars blocked her in.

A breath test showed she had 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mg.

Chris Read, defending, said Fowler "simply panicked" when the police first pulled her over as "she has never been in a situation like that before".

He said there was no "rational explanation" as to why she decided to drive.

She pleaded guilty to drink driving and failing to stop.

Fowler was fined £110 for drink driving, £40 for failing to stop, and ordered to pay £85 prosecution cost and a £20 victim surcharge.

She was also disqualified from driving for 18 months.
