A 23-YEAR-old has been fined £75 for possessing cannabis with a street value of £10, which he said he had to help him sleep.
Hereford Magistrates Court heard yesterday that Daniel Crum, 23, of Hunderton Avenue, Hereford had previously had a heavy addiction to cannabis.
His last offence involving cannabis was in 2013 and since then he has taken part in a drug rehabilitation programme, which has helped him cut down.
Police searched his home on November 7 and found cannabis worth £10 at street value.
Marilena Divitantonio, defending, said Crum was going to use it to help him sleep, but understands he should go back to his doctor and should not self medicate.
She said he is taking tablets prescribed by doctors for anxiety and depression.
Crum pleaded guilty to the cannabis offence and accepted he had breached a conditional discharge imposed on October 22 for a public order offence.
Magistrates ordered him to pay a £75 fine, £85 costs and £20 government surcharge. His conditional discharge will continue.
