A CYCLIST had to call on the help of his wife after a bike ride challenge was hampered by an injured shoulder.

Chris Greaves intended to cycle from John O'Groats to Land's End over ten days, completely unsupported.

But on the second day of his journey a car knocked him off his bike leaving Chris with an injured shoulder and unable to carry his back pack.

His wife, Toni, joined him in their VW camper van, Shmoo, to help him complete the trip, which he did on October 15.

He has raised £3,000 for The Haven breast cancer support centre in St Owen Street, Hereford, which supported Toni after she was diagnosed with breast cancer aged 40.

Chris said: “I know the discomfort I felt during my ride will pass. The people supported at The Haven have a much harder journey to make than me, and I am pleased to support them in any way I can.

"It has been an awesome challenge but well worth every minute of pain as the good times out weighed the bad.”
