THE latest subject in a series of discussions over Kington’s future - how to create a vibrant economy in the town - will be debated at a meeting on September 30.

Led by councillor Martin Fitton, the meeting will look at how the market town can attract new businesses to the area, provide jobs and services and still sustain its character and ‘quality of life’.

He said: “The issues facing our economy are clear.

“We want to aid the range of companies providing work in the area and encourage the establishment of new ones.

“The key industries of agriculture and tourism are extremely important and we need to see them prosper.”

Like all the discussions held in this series, the responses will help shape Kington’s Neighbourhood Plan - a document which will outline the town’s priorities for the future.

And cllr Fitton is calling on residents from throughout the community to get involved in shaping a plan which will create a ‘framework’ for a vibrant economy.
