HEREFORD United will play no matches at their Edgar Street ground until further notice amid safety concerns.

The Bulls were due to face 1st Battalion Rifles and Cardiff City in the coming days but both have today been postponed.

Herefordshire Council has confirmed the games cannot go ahead as it is not satisfied the club can meet the requirements of its safety certificate.

The Rifles game was due to take place this Sunday with the Cardiff game next weekend.

The decision was made during a meeting between the council, Hereford United and the emergency services this morning.

"You need annual checks and renewals and until we have the correct certification the local authority will not allow these fixtures to go ahead," Marc Willimont, head of development, management and environmental health at Herefordshire Council told the Hereford Times.

Herefordshire Council says in a statement it hopes to meet with United representatives next week, along with the emergency services, to review the situation.

Football most definitely will be played at Edgar Street again, just not when these jokers and spivs are in charge.

Once we have driven them out Edgar Street will be a real community hub for a community based football team.

No more dodgy owners, as fans and Herefordians we can do this!

Last season many supporters helped the club to survive by giving money and help when it was needed. I know of many people who went far and away beyond what many other supporters would do to help save the club they love.
I now feel betrayed, sad and ignored by what has happened.
Incredibly, the news (the little that filters out) gets worse and worse.
Perhaps I will wake up tomorrow and find it has all been a bad dream?

Mr Tea, I fear that if HUFC go out of business and is taken over by the fans a Hereford team, as it cant be united, will play at such a low level that they will not be able to afford to run Edgar Street because of low gates, the up keep of that place wont be cheap.

Westfields and Pegasus both local teams would love to have a stadium like united but couldn't afford it, that's why I fear there will be no football at Edgar street. I hope I am wrong.

What about joint use, a new joint club incorporating these other successful amateur clubs ? Bring in junior teams, making the whole enterprise Hereford City . Fans and supporters club in charge, like Cheter.
But not with dodgy London 'businessmen' involved.
