THE annual Herefordshire literary luncheon has raised more than £5,000 for the British Red Cross.
More than 100 people were at the event to hear the esteemed BBC news correspondent Kate Adie talk about her life covering wars and disasters at the event at Woolhope Village Hall.
Sarah Roberts, chair of the British Red Cross fundraising committee in Herefordshire, said: "We would like to thank Kate Adie for her enthralling talk which gave us a fascinating insight into the horror and human suffering she witnessed as a BBC correspondent.
"We would also like to thank the volunteers who helped organise the luncheon and the people whose incredible generosity raised £5,300.
"Their donations are crucial to enabling us to support people in crisis in Herefordshire by funding Red Cross services including support at home after a stay in hospital, wheelchair loans and transport to medical appointments – as well as first aid at events, first aid training and support in emergencies like floods or severe weather."
