MEMBERS of the Knighton and District Rotary Club feel it is important to present donations, where possible, directly to the charities supported.

To this end 11 of the club's members visited the airbase of Midlands Air Ambulance at RAF Cosford on June 21.

They were briefed on the activities of the helicopter charity and had the opportunity to look at the extensive capabilities that the aircraft and crews have.

Rotarian Kim Smith said "After the aircraft had three emergency callouts that day, were lucky to enjoy a quiet period to be shown around".

President Patrick added "We were able to present a £500 cheque to the Midlands Air Ambulance to help them continue their work. This year we have also supported the Presteigne Job Club, the Wales Air Ambulance, the Bucknell and Leintwardine First responders and over 20 other charities and projects."
