LEDBURY cafe, Chez Pascal was transformed into an Arabian themed venue for the Syrian meal held recently.

Attracting more than 60 people the rooms were lit with fairy lights, eastern style lamps, carpets and other decorations.

Guests walked around the garden and chatted over glasses of Syrian wine beneath the gazebo, keeping warm around the blazing brazier, before moving into the restaurant where delicious authentic Syrian foods and sweets were on offer.

Entertainment was from the Syrian Brothers who had travelled from Cardiff to join the fun and perform traditional songs.

Local artist Kate Hickson, was the brilliant auctioneer persuading diners to give generously to the cause of helping refugees.

Organiser Caroline Handley said "Very many thanks to everyone who helped make this event such a mammoth success - far to numerous to name every individual and business, they know who they are and our gratitude goes to all concerned for their overwhelming generosity. Also I have to mention Pascal and Janie without whom we would not have had a premises to use for this banquet. We have raised more than £2000, with the final figure still to be announced."

Ledbury Refugee Support has been operating for almost two years and in that time has raised thousands of pounds used to send aid to various countries where the need has been greatest. Currently, funds have gone towards sending containers carrying food, clothing and other supplies to the displaced people of Syria.
