SELLING pre-loved clothes, books and homewares alongside new wildlife products, the new Herefordshire Wildlife Trust shop will also provide a space for talks and workshops, highlighting the work of the Trust on nature reserves and landscapes across Herefordshire.

The shop is hoped to prove to be a sustainable source of income to fund aspects of the Trust's work.

Development director, John Clark, commented: "The Trust manages over 55 nature reserves across Herefordshire alongside its work on landscape-scale conservation projects. We also run events, activities and training to inspire others and share skills, knowledge and passion. All this work does require a pretty hefty income so we hope this new shop will contribute to that and receive lots of support from the local community."

Retail manager Sam Brett, adds: "The shop will also provide a space where we can share our story and hold talks, workshops and fundraising events – we want to create a real community hub and bring a bit of Herefordshire's wildlife into the town. We are hoping to open the shop on Ledbury high street this summer but we need help to turn our empty room into a really great, functional space first. We're crowdfunding to help us buy all the kit to get us started, from mannequins and bookshelves to shop signs and price tickets."

The crowdfunder campaign works by offering rewards for each amount donated. For example, a £20 donation will see your name on a plaque in the shop while parting with £100 will get you a private, guided tour of Lugg Meadow nature reserves to hear about the history of this special site and see the rare snake's head fritillaries in flower.
