DOGS Trust's Ross-on-Wye charity shop celebrated its first birthday recently.

On the day, staff, volunteers and some of the team and dogs from Dogs Trust Evesham joined in the fun to help mark this special occasion and human and canine shoppers enjoyed cake and homemade dog treats whilst they browsed for bargains.

Since its opening last year, staff at the charity shop estimate that more than 5,000 people have stepped through its doors and have sold around 20,000 items including clothing, bric-a-brac and books which has raised more than £77,000 to help the homeless hounds under the care of Dogs Trust.

Tracy Allwright, Ross-on-Wye charity shop manager, said: "We are delighted to be celebrating our first birthday, it's been a great year and we are so grateful to everyone who has made the last 12 months such a success.

"We have been overwhelmed by the support of the local community who not only give generously but make each and every day such a pleasure."

Helping to run the charity shop are a small team of six dedicated volunteers, but as the shop prepares for a busy year, they are appealing for anyone who can offer their time.

Tracy continued: "We simply couldn't run this shop without the dedication of our volunteers - but we are always looking for more! Whether you can spare an hour or a day, please pop in and let us know if you can help."

The shop is open from 9am - 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Anybody interested in becoming a volunteer should contact the shop on 01989 566768 or visit at 50 Broad Street, Ross-on-Wye.
