THIS term the Beavers are working towards their Disability Awareness Badge to tie in with the recent Paralympics.
The beavers must learn about the paralympians and their sports, learn about sign language and how to sign their own name, as well as aids used by various people in their day to day lives.
As part of this badge we arranged for the Beaver's to visit the Riding for the Disabled centre to see what they do and see the aids used by those learning to ride. The beavers thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were most interested by 'Eddy the mechanical horse' as well as the lifts used to help people on and off the horses.
Leaders were very proud to have 29 beavers, three young leaders and four group leaders visit the centre and show support for this local charity who give back so much to the community.
