THE children of Ivington Pre-school are staying safe and active on their new bicycle equipment, purchased thanks to funding from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust.

Ivington Pre-school has an average of 12 children per nursery session, so it is important for them to have sufficient equipment and activities available to keep the two-to-five year olds happy and healthy. By encouraging children to be more active through play the nursery helps to improve the well-being of its toddlers and young children.

To continue to promote outdoor recreation, whilst making the most of the playground and field available to them, the Pre-school applied for funding to help with the purchase of new equipment.

The Kingspan Insulation Community Trust awarded Ivington Pre-school with £842 for the purchase of a selection of bikes, scooters, and tractors as well as role play equipment for their annual Road Safety ‘Beep Beep’ campaign. The new bikes give children ample opportunity to learn to ride if they are unable to do so safely near their home, whilst the role play equipment is used to teach them key road safety messages.

This includes how to use a zebra crossing, recognising road signs, and understanding the traffic light system. The premises are also used by Badgers Den Parents and Toddlers, who will also benefit from the new additions to the centre.
