WITH awful weather for ducks forecast people from the community of Stowe and beyond still tuned out to the annual duck race.

It turned out the only ones getting wet on the day were the ducks and the children who got in the river to catch them.

The event raised £930 for Stowe Church and took place in the field next to the River Teme bridge at Stowe.

On the day as well as the duck races there were refreshments and a raffle.

Results were yellow race: 1st Brenda Sadler, 2nd Bogdan and Jessica, 3rd Isabella Morris. Green race: 1st Hetty the dog owned by the Morris family, 2nd Bogdan and Jessica, 3rd Jonathan Coltman-Rogers. White race: 1st Emma Bywater,2nd Jean Phillips, 3rd Colin Bentley. Blue race: 1st Anna Pearson, 2nd Colin Bentley, 3rd Marg Masters. Pink race: 1st Julie Read, 2nd Mike and Wendy, 3rd Vinnie Roberts and orange (£100) Ron Sadler.

The Duck Pooh Race where everyone gets to throw their own ducks in the river: 1st Pippa Fowler, 2nd Amy Morris and 3rd Archie Roberts.

Raffle winners included Les Thomas, Ellen Roberts, Norman Morris, Anna Pearson and Esme Brick.
