THE Ledbury Yarnstormers met in the flexible unit of the Old Cottage hospital, courtesy of the Ledbury Area Development Trust, to pool their resources by stitching together dozens of knitted squares.

These were transformed into warm colourful blankets to benefit those refugees in Greece, France and other areas.

The knitting collective had also created beanie style hats, mittens, children’s clothes, teddy bears and woollen scarves, all of which will be forwarded to where the need is greatest.

Several items have been displayed in the window of Handley Organics, Ledbury High Street, so that members of the public can be encouraged to become involved with the Yarnstormers knitting project.

Joining the campaign are knitters from Welland and Malvern all of whom have donated knitted items.

Nina Shield and other members of the collective modelled the beanie hats and displayed the dozens of items created in a true community spirit, whilst helping the Ledbury Refugee Support Group.
