THE Knighton Macmillan cancer support group held their annual Christmas fair in the church hall, Knighton last weekend and raised £811 on the day, this does not include the big raffle that has yet to be finalised, and the group will be getting £500 match funding from Barclays in addition to this. The main attraction on the day was a visit by Father Christmas who gave a small gift to the many children who attended the event. There was also stalls selling a wide variety of items including cakes, produce, books, gifts, a tombola, competitions, raffle, face painting, refreshments and more.

Louise Hardwick group secretary thanked all of the people who attended the event, all who donated such wonderful prizes including Jacqui Salt, Thomas Pugh, Gaynor Butler, Hayley Pryce Bright, Vicky Walker, Anna Smith, all who baked items to be sold, gave other items to sell, Cats Owen who helped her with face painting lots of children as snowmen and reindeers.

Louise added "this money is so much needed and helps our local townsfolk out when they are in need. Anyone wanting to join our committee please let me know, it is very non-committal only a couple of meetings a year, several events but very flexible. We desperately need new members and the ladies are so welcoming" .

Winners of the big raffle were 1st Clive Brick who won the big hamper, Jan Cross, June Ruff, Roger Teese, Chris Branford, Rose Huffer, A.V. Edwards, Enid Davies, Thea, Heather and Peter Hood, and Angela Waters. The in house raffle winners included Betsy Cadwallader, Jean Price, Rhys Taylor, Alice Cowell, Bracken Trust, Danny Bird, Hannah Davies, Cory Franklin, Iris Benson and Pam Mills. Francis Kilby won the teddy after correctly guessing it's names as Lulu.
